Charitable contributions to the Museum of Flying

Thank you for considering a charitable gift in support of the Museum of Flying. The Museum is a 501 (C)(3) nonprofit organization. Our mission is to preserve and present the history of aviation as it relates to California and the many aircraft and aerospace companies that led the way to the growth and development of the aviation and aerospace industries.

Your contribution will assist the Museum in continuing to expand and develop our exhibits, displays, artifacts, and our aircraft collection. The Museum relies on contributions of general support to ensure the long-term financial independence of the institution.

For most donors, this is the most common way to provide support. Checks should be made payable to the Museum of Flying.

Credit Cards

Many donors use this option to take advantage of “points” programs offered by various credit card companies. Not only do you receive the tax deductible contribution, you may actually “reward” yourself for making a charitable contribution by earning additional “points” on your credit card. The Museum accepts Visa, Mastercard, and American Express.

Gifts of Appreciated Stock and other Securities

This is an ideal way to provide support to the Museum especially with appreciated stocks or other securities. Not only will you as the donor, avoid a capital gains tax liability, you will also receive the tax deduction for the full value of the appreciated asset. As an example, should you choose to make a gift of a stock or security that cost you $10,000 which is now worth $50,000 you will receive that tax benefit for the full $50,000 gift!

To make a contribution through stock or other securities, please contact the Museum Director, Dan Ryan at  and he can provide the information for our brokerage account.

Gifts of Real Property

The Museum will gladly accept gifts of real property which can include homes, townhomes, condominiums, and commercial real estate. Donations of this type take a considerable amount of time to complete the transaction and transfer. If you are interested in considering a gift of real property contact the Museum Director for more information.

Gifts of Personal Property

The Museum will accept gifts of personal property which include aircraft, automobiles, boats, and recreational vehicles. The ultimate disposition of donations of this type will be at the sole discretion of the Museum and its Board of Directors.
